Sales figures for the last month are out from all the auto makers in India. The grey over cast seems to be finally getting over in the Indian auto market. Car sales rose to 17.2% in April to 98,740 units as compared to 84,283 units in April 2007.

Society of Indian Automobiles Manufacturers stated that sales of even commercial vehicles – trucks and buses – has also marked an increase of 7.6% and stood at 33,271 units as compared to 30914 units last month.

Sales of passenger cars including UVs and MPVs rose to 21.2%. SIAM data revealed that the total rise in the domestic market rose to nearly 10% to 806,238 units as compared to 734,103 units sold in the corresponding month in 2007. The exports market also witnessed growth by almost 32% in April and stood at 119,419 units.
