Skoda Auto India Private Limited is a part of Volkswagen group. It entered the Indian auto market in the year 2001 with its sedan model Skoda Octavia. The medium sized sedan model was an instant success in the Indian market with both petrol and diesel model available in the Indian market.

 

Skoda has its manufacturing plant at Shendra in Maharashtra. Octavia was initially imported as completely built unit but now it is being assembled at the Shendra plant where it is imported as semi-knocked down unit. Shendra unit is the only manufacturing unit of Skoda outside Germany.

 

The European car maker Skoda Auto India has Fabia, Octavia, Laura and Superb in its product kitty. The cars are extremely stylish and carry a classy look. Skoda cars are known to keep coming up with latest technologies and being the latest updated models in their segment. Although Skoda cars are pricier than their competitors but Indian car buyers have favoured that owing to their superior styling, design, comfort and performance. It has a network of 41 dealerships equipped with 35 facilities spread across the country.

 

The models developed in Skoda Auto India Pvt. Ltd. have been proud recipients of several prestigious awards for reasonable and logical causes and has proved itself as one of the leading car manufacturer in India. Skoda Auto in India received awards like 'Most Technologically Advanced Car' for Skoda Laura and 'Best Variant' for Skoda Superb Turbo Diesel from CNBC-TV18 AUTOCAR AUTO in the year 2006. It has also received 'Executive Car of the Year' award from NDTV PROFIT CAR INDIA and 'Automotive Technology of the Year' award from OVERDRIVE, both for Skoda Laura.
