Mercedes-Benz is a German automobile manufacturer and this company is well-known for its luxury vehicles. Mercedes-Benz parent company is Daimler AG. Apart from producing automobiles, Mercedes-Benz is also known for producing coaches, trucks and buses.

 

During 1880s, the brand Mercedes-Benz was introduced and the company released its first petrol-powered motorcycle in 1886. In the year 1901, the company had released its first vehicle, which was not released in the name of Mercedes-Bens. The first vehicle with the brand name of Mercedes-Benz was released only in 1926. Mercedes-Benz is the one who used the safety and latest technological innovations, which were used by other brands later on.

 

Mercedes-Benz Launch and History

 

Mercedes-Benz was founded in the year 1881 by Karl Benz, who released his first automobile in 1886. Gottlieb Daimler was his co-founder. During the year 1926, Benz and Daimler combined together and formed Daimler-Benz AG and later it was renamed into Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Benz 170 was the first high-technology car of the brand and it was unveiled in 1931. During 1930s and 1940s Mercedes-Benz introduced super luxury cars and some of the distinguished models of that period were cruisers like 540K and 380K.

 

During the 1950s, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the world’s first super car, namely, Mercedes-Benz 300SL. In 1963, Mercedes-Benz released the Mercedes-Benz 600, which immensely enhanced its reputation as a sports car maker as well. This car had a V8 engine that delivered 300 horsepower and it brought about the title of “the home of automotive” to Mercedes-Benz.

 

In the 1970s, Mercedes-Benz started its S-Class series of coupes and sedans and in this decade Mercedes-Benz released the first anti-lock braking system for vehicles. In the 1980s the company introduced traction control and airbags. It also released the Mercedes-Benz 190E in this decade. In the 1990s, Mercedes-Benz partnered with AMG and released the sporty C36 AMG model in 1995. After this the company released most of its vehicles with AMG-tuned versions. In 2007, Mercedes-Benz introduced seven hybrid models of which the F700 concept car was one.

 

Mercedes-Benz Launch in India

 

Mercedes-Benz India was introduced in 1994. Later on the company merged with its parent company came to be renamed as DaimlerChrysler India Private Limited. In 2007, the name was changed once again into Mercedes-Benz India.

 

Currently Mercedes-Benz India is engaged in various domains like producing Mercedes cars locally, importing Mercedes-Benz cars, and dealing in commercial vehicles. Apart from that, Mercedes-Benz India is also involved in various social programs like automotive education, children road safety projects and Biofuel from Jatopha.

 

Mercedes-Benz Founder(s)

 

Karl Frendrich Benz was the primary founder of Mercedes-Benz. Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach were the co-founders of Mercedes-Benz. All of them were working on similar types of inventions without each others’ knowledge. Eventually, they merged their efforts together and formed Daimler-Benz.

Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler not only lived in the same period but they also stayed just a few miles apart. They both were fascinated with manufacturing automobiles. Benz built his first motor tricycle, his first four wheeler, his first car , and first truck in the years 1886, 1893, 1894 and 1895 respectively. On the other hand, Daimler built his horseless carriage in 1886 and built engines, light trucks and passenger cars. Both the companies were pioneers in their own way but finally joined together and formed Mercedes-Benz.

The years 1871 and 1890 were the inception years of Benz and Daimler. Initially, both the companies were rivals and competing with each other but after the First World War and economic crisis both the companies merged together with mutual understandings and sold their units in each others names.

 

The Mercedes-Benz logo is a three pointed star that lies inside a circle, and the points of the star symbolize style, class and personality. It also indicates that the company is dominating the sea, land and air. The Mercedes-Benz logo was founded in the year 1901 by Gottlieb Daimler. The Benz laurel wreath was added to the logo in 1926 in ordered to signify the merge of the two organizations. Today this logo is recognized globally as one that signifies class, performance and luxury.

In 2012, Mercedes-Benz plans to release the SL roadster which will come in AMG and standard versions.

 

Mercedes-Benz also plans to launch Mercedes-Benz small segment cars in the United States this year. Initially, the company planned to release these cars by late 2011 in Europe but these small cars will be costlier compared to traditional small cars of other brands.
