It was christened as DaimlerChrysler India Private Limited but later when Daimler and Chrysler separated; it was renamed as Daimler AG. Now the company is known as Mercedes Benz India Limited and is based in Pune, Maharashtra.
Mercedes-Benz not only assembles cars locally but also imports its foreign models in India. It is also actively present in the commercial vehicle operations and uses India for global sourcing of auto components. Mercedes-Benz is also actively involved in social oriented programs like bio-diesel from jatropha plants, road safety project for children and automotive education.
Mercedes product range includes C-class, CLS, E-class, SLK-class and SL-500. Its range of cars radiates luxury, style, comfort and has a class of its own. Its models still remain the first choice for the elitist in the country. Mercedes-Benz has also introduced AMG cars in India. Its latest model AMG SLS gullwing model is ready to make its foray in the Indian market. Its C63 AMG model is already present in India.
It has its world class dealer network in India with its presence in 30 cities. The company became the first OEM in India with a 100% ISO 2001:9000 certified dealer network. Mercedes-Benz India has won the Quality Award for the 'Best Mercedes-Benz Production Plant' outside Germany for 5 consecutive years.
