Bentley Motors Limited is a British auto company that has ruled the European markets since a long time. It is headquartered in Crewe, England that was established in 1919. Volkswagen Group is the current owner of the company since 1998. It is one of the most prestigious luxury car manufacturers of the world.

 

Owner of Bentley Motors, Walter Owen Bentley was a racer at heart and intended to build sports car. His initial 3Liter models were an instant success but the Great Depression sucked the company into losses. However, Bentley re-appeared as luxury car makers and was soon serious competitors of Rolls-Royce. In the end, Walter Bentley had to sell the company to Rolls Royce due to financial vice surrounding the company. He also worked with Rolls Royce for some time. Car produced after that for some time were a fusion of sporting Bentleys and luxurious Rolls Royce that were also known to be Rolls-Bentley at that time.

 

After the Second World War was over, Bentleys regained their popularity gradually by late 1980s and the sales were booming. Since 1998 Volkswagen group has owned the company and have been making some of the finest cars in the world.

 

Bentley Motors made its foray in the Indian auto market in 2007. It currently does not have any manufacturing unit or any assembly plant in India. Executive Motors Pvt. Ltd. based in New Delhi is official importer of Bentley Cars in India. It currently sells three of its models Continental GT, Arnage RL and Continental Flying Spur in India. It now intends to introduce Brooklands Coupe and Azure to India soon.
