BMW India is a 100 percent subsidiary company of German BMW Group. BMW entered the Indian auto market in 2006 but inspite of its late entry it is the top most luxury car maker in India by sales. It has continuously launched new models and has kept the luxury car segment upbeat by adding more variants and features in each model. BMW has its assembly plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu which is currently assembling BMW 3 and BMW 5 series cars. The 3 series is an exquisite sports sedan available both in petrol and diesel variants. BMW has also expanded its dealership network pan India having 16 dealerships presently in the country that take care of the domestic sales. In the second phase of expansion, BMW intends to cover 10 more cities by end 2010 in India. BMW also has its international purchase office in Gurgaon that handles development of exports from India.
