Audi India is a part of German auto maker Volkswagen AG. It currently has its production units in China, Brazil, Hungary and Belgium. It entered Indian market in 2007 as a division of Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd., based in Mumbai. Audi cars in India are either imported as completely built units or assembled at the Aurangabad plant of Skoda Auto.
Audi India is projecting its cars to the Indian elite as the best luxury cars to match their status. The cars launched by Audi in India are regarded as a symbol of class, elegance and luxury. The vehicles included in the product line of Audi AG India include sedans like A4, A6, A8, coupes and super cars like TT and R8 (super car/coupe) and an SUV Q7. It rolled out A4 and A6 in 2008 which is available with petrol and diesel options. Other model like A8 sedan is available only with petrol engine while its SUV Q7 is available is available with both engine options.
Audi India has its flagship showroom in Kochi in South India which epitomizes Audi's most recent and exclusive 'terminal architecture.' It currently has 12 dealers in the country which will be numbered up to 15 by end 2009 and 18 by 2010. Audi India also has an exclusive Audi Roadside Assistance program for its customers where the customers can avail services just by making a call.
