Electric vehicles are gaining popularity each day. They are truly one of the cheapest sources of transportation and are witnessing a steep rise in their demand. After Reva and Oreva electic cars and Yo Bikes, it is “Lectrix”, the e-scooter, that is slated for launch next month. Luminous Power Techs, the Power Storage maker, will be shortly launching their new e-scooter in India. According to the founder and CEO of the company, Rakesh Malhotra, the company has already completed successful test runs of the scooter. The scooter is ready for a launch in November 2008.
“Presently, we would be focusing our business in North India only. Most of the outlets are opening next month and they are located in all major cities in North India like Delhi and also in smaller cities like Hisar, Karnal and Meerut,” said Rakesh Malhotra.
The new electric scooter will be priced between Rs. 22000 to Rs. 35000 and will be produced at company’s manufacturing unit in Gagret in Himachal Pradesh which has a manufacturing capacity of 3000 units per month. The Company is also planning to set up manufacturing unit in Himachal Pradesh to step up its production capacity.

One of the best things about using an electric scooter for commuting everyday is the fact that when you are waiting at intersections you are not wasting any energy, because the moment apply the brakes, the motors switches itself off. also the fact that there is no noise and zero pollution is a great plus.
