India is becoming the small car exports hub for two of India's leading car manufacturers. Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki have already shifted their complete manufacturing bases for their small cars to India.

Hyundai has its manufacturing base in Chennai and its second plant operations have already started increasing its total manufacturing capacity to 400,000 units. Hyundai currently manufactures its several small car models like Santro, Getz, i10 in India. Its plants in Chennai also cater to demands from European and Latin American countries for small cars. Its model i10 has also created record by bagging export orders for more than 1 lakh units in record 7 months of its launch.

Surging fuel costs have pushed auto markets worldwide towards smaller cars which have ramped up demand for these cars.  This brings good news for small car manufacturers like Maruti and Hyundai in India. Hyundai currently exports Santro and i10 from India which is 40 percent of its production in the country.

Maruti exports Alto, Estilo, Wagon R, Omni, M800, to European and non-European markets Nissan also plans to bring its small car in the market. Moreover, the world is already waiting for Tata's ultra cheap car, Nano which shall hit the roads in October this year.
