Honda Motor Company Limited is planning to introduce its hybrid model, Insight, in India. It will showcase its hybrid car model at the Paris Motors show tomorrow which will be smaller in size but a family hybrid model.
According to Masahiro Takedagawa, president and CEO, Honda Siel Cars India Ltd, Honda hybrid cars are currently being manufactured and designed in Japan at its parent company manufacturing plant. IF Honda plans to bring the car in India, it will have to import the same. As far as hybrid models of Honda are concerned, they are produced at the Honda’s plant in Japan and all we can do is import it. However, we will study possibilities of producing it in India,” he said.

He also added that the company is hopeful that India shall reduce its duty structure for car running on alternative fuel technology. Honda has already launched hybrid model of its popular car, Honda Civic, in India. Moreover, it has sold 70 units of its hybrid model since its launch in June this year.
