The German car maker Audi is all set to roll out its new sports model Audi R8 in India in November 2008. The new model will be priced at Rs. 1.17 crores. Audi already marks its strong presence in the luxury sedan cars segment with its impressive portfolio that includes Audi Coupe TT, SUV Q7 and sedans A4, A6, A8.

"The (R8) cost will be over crore...Rs 1.17 crore," said Martin Birkner, Vice-President Marketing Audi (India) as the company gears up to mark overall sales of 1000 cars in India. It clocked sales of 250 units in the last financial year. He also stated that the company has already received 15 orders for its new model R8 and they will be delivered in this year itself.

The company has already poAudi R8sted a 200 percent growth in its sales figures in India and is quite bullish on the Indian market. “The whole segment is growing and we are growing even faster than the segment. We will sell this year about 1,000 cars in India,” said the Audi official in a statement.

Birkner also states that A4 has started being assembled in India which is the main reason for company’s speedy growth in the country. It plans to produce 11000 units of A4 by 2015. “We will try to get more production to India to meet the demand for this product,” he added.
